Deborah Gayle Hyman

Deborah Gayle Hyman, born November 28, 1959, died on November 29, 2022, in Clover, SC.  Deborah was a graduate of Ashbrook High school in Gastonia, NC where she cheered.  She then graduated from UNC Charlotte with a BA in Architecture.  Later, after she spent several years working in two Charlotte architecture firms, she created her own architecture firm, Architechnique, P.A.  Initially, this firm did many different types of buildings, but she eventually concentrated on Residential Renovation, an area she found truly satisfying.

Deborah had many noteworthy achievements including being awarded Tega Cay’s citizen of the month for her work with the swim team.  She also worked with the Tega Cay July 4th committee for many years.  She was a faithful member of the Lake Wylie Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years, and organized many summers of Vacation Bible School, as well as other holiday events such as Easter and Christmas. 

Deborah was predeceased by her father Lawrence Hyman, and is survived by her husband, Thomas Keith Stephens; mother, Patricia Stephenson (husband Buddy); daughters, Lisa Hyams and (husband Vincent), and Paula Allen (husband Corey); step-brother, Brian Stephenson; brothers-in-law, James Stephens, Chuck Stephens (wife Sharon), and Mike Stephens (wife Liz); sisters-in-law, Teresa Moose, Susan Clements (husband Ronnie), and Mary Gordon (husband Steve); and grandchildren, Tripp Hyams, June Ella Hyams, Grace Allen, Molly Allen, and Lucy Allen.

Deborah enjoyed teaching the word of God and lived her life as a Christian example. She loved watching football, hosting family gatherings, art and puzzles, especially sudoku and jigsaw. Her beauty and faith shined inside and out.
