Don Joseph Stewart, Sr

Irmo, SC – Mr. Don Joseph Stewart, Sr, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

The family will receive friends 6:00 pm Friday, January 29, 2012, at Trinity Baptist Church, 1519 Steel Hill Rd, Van Wyck, SC 29744 and a funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Ricky Cope officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Mecklenburg County, Mr. Stewart was a son of the late William Haksell Stewart and Maggie Donzell Grindstaff Stewart.  Mr. Stewart was a professor of communications at the University of South Carolina Aiken, for many years.  He always loved to teach in his personal and his professional life.  He was a coach in the areas of intermural sports and enjoyed teaching his students the game and life lessons.  He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where he used his spiritual gift of teaching to teach courses in financial planning through the Dave Ramsey courses.  He was also a part of their marriage enrichment ministry along with his wife, Lorraine Stewart. He loved music and sharing with people and he enjoyed singing.  He will be remembered as a man who love his family very much.     

Surviving are his son, Don Joseph Stewart, Jr.; a daughter, Donna Carol Redding; a brother, William (Bill) Stewart; a sister, Maxine Camp; three grandchildren, Brooke Elaine Bennett, Bailey Grace Bennett, and Madalynn Elise Stewart.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Stewart.
