Mr. James Pinochet, 91, died Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
Services will be private.
Mr. Pinochet was a son of the late Ramiro Pinochet-Acetuno and Raquel Carte-Pinochet. He was a lifelong employee of The Celanese Corporation. He received two degrees in his life, his original degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a second degree in History (after retirement) from Winthrop. He spoke four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. He additionally studied Latin, Russian and Mandarin. He loved trains his whole life. He was an American Football fan, enjoying all types of football, and his favorite team was Georgia Tech. He also enjoyed volunteering as a tutor who taught adults and children how to read, tutoring in English and Spanish.
Surviving are his three daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Rhoades, Susan Pinochet and Deirdre Pinochet; and a beloved granddaughter, Raquel Rhoades. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Autry Pinochet and a brother, Fernando “Fred” Pinochet.
