Pamela Burgess Obituary

On August 1, 2022, the world lost an indelible ray of sunshine when Pamela Rae Trowbridge Burgess passed away at the age of 78. Pam led an incredibly interesting and adventurous life, having lived in states across America in addition to spending a portion of her childhood living in Japan.

Pam was the daughter of Raymond Trowbridge, an Army officer, and Nina Maddox Trowbridge. As a child, Pam lived in U.S.-Occupied Japan in the immediate aftermath of World War II.Pam would later become the wife of a Navy officer and spend time living in various states across America, to include Maine, California, Illinois, Florida, and Maryland. While her then-husband was stationed at the U.S. Naval Academy Pam gave tours to foreign visitors and dignitaries, including former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Perhaps the most significant amongst all her attributes was Pam’s unwavering love of children. Aside from having spent close to twenty years as an elementary teacher, the running joke amongst Pam’s loved ones was that you could always find Pam holding a baby at family gatherings. Pam was blessed with four children of her own, three sons and a daughter born between 1964 and 1983.

Later in life, Pam found tremendous success as a real estate agent in Northern Virginia. Always compassionate and attentive to her clients, many referred to Pam as their “second mom” or even their “second grandmother”. It was Pam’s outgoing nature, empathy, and personal moving experiences that would make her one of the most successful real estate agents in Loudoun County, Virginia for decades. Pam retired in 2019 and moved to South Carolina to be closer to her daughter and youngest grandchildren.

One of Pam’s great joys was the opportunity to pursue her lifelong love of traveling, visiting countries around the world, to include Russia, China, Egypt, and much of Europe with her daughter and best friend Sue Marlin.

Pam’s final years were spent at Chandler Independent Senior Center in Rock Hill, SC. Ever the active socialite, Pam was an activity coordinator and a member of the welcoming committee for new residents.

Pam’s legacy lives one through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Brian Burgess, and is survived by sons Tom Burgess; Justin Burgess; and daughter Alecia Durner. She is survived by grandchildren Alexandra, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Ethan, Jacob, Brooklyn, Emerson, and Theodore. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Merrick and Gabriel.    ````````````````````````````````
